I bought mine (VT500C, '83) for 750 euro's and I think I was quite lucky.
Most of the VT500C's that I see for sale here are somewhere between 800 and 1500 euro's.

First of all, Honda is the most popular motorcycle brand in The Netherlands. Througout the years VT's and VF's have been (and are) very popular and are in huge amounts available on the second hand marked.
Therefore the prices drop, making things interesting for low budget / rat bikers.

Especially the VF750F (like headcase once was  ) are to be found for cheap over here. Next the VF750S Sabre, because the model is not very popular (if it ever really was) the prices are not THAT high.
The VF750C magna is usually a bit higher priced than the others, because most of these are pretty good maintained as being "custom"bikes and mostly only been used in nice waether.

sadly the early v4's have some minor design flaws. they're not known for reliability (correct me if I'm wrong)

Indeed the quality wasn't all that good, but it takes a long time before they really give up and die. Y
